Transactions, Escrow & Cancellations

Version 1.0-draftEffective August 30, 2026

Draft — pending confirmation. This document is an operational draft grounded in how Webba actually works. Company legal details (entity, address, governing law, contact addresses) are placeholders until confirmed, and the wording marked for review below should be reviewed by qualified counsel before launch. Questions: hello@webba.com.

This policy explains how a sale on Webba actually completes, and what happens if it does not. It is part of Webba’s Terms of Service. The important point up front: Webba does not hold money and is not the escrow provider. Payment and transfer are carried out by Escrow.com, an independent third party, under Escrow.com’s own terms.

Starting a purchase and reservations

When you use “Buy Now” or accept an offer, Webba records a transaction for that domain at the agreed price. Recording a transaction does not by itself take the domain off the market — a listing is held exclusively for a buyer only once payment for it has been secured. Until then the same domain may still be sold to another buyer. A recorded transaction is not a completed sale, and one that is not carried through may lapse and the domain return to sale.

How a sale completes through escrow

Where a sale is taken through escrow, it is settled through Escrow.com — escrow is arranged for a sale rather than applied automatically to every order. When a transaction is set up with the provider, the typical sequence is:

  1. both the buyer and seller agree to the transaction terms;
  2. the buyer pays the agreed price into escrow (Escrow.com holds it — Webba never does);
  3. once payment is secured, the seller transfers the domain to the buyer (typically by an account “push” at the registrar);
  4. the buyer has an inspection period to confirm the domain was received;
  5. when the buyer accepts, Escrow.com disburses the funds to the seller and the transaction closes.

Buyer acceptance is not the same as final settlement: a sale is complete only once Escrow.com has actually disbursed to the seller and closed the transaction. Timing of each step, including any disbursement delay, is controlled by Escrow.com, not by Webba.

Fees

Webba does not charge a marketplace fee for a transaction. Escrow.com charges its own escrow fee; under the current arrangement that fee is paid by the seller and deducted from the seller’s proceeds, so the buyer pays the agreed price and nothing more. Domain registration, renewal, or transfer costs at a registrar are separate and are the responsibility of the party the registrar charges. ⚖ Legal review recommended: who bears the escrow fee and any registrar transfer costs should be stated to match the exact commercial arrangement at launch.

Cancellation, failure, and refunds

Because funds are held by Escrow.com and not by Webba, any refund, cancellation, or dispute about money is handled by Escrow.com under its rules — Webba cannot issue a refund of the purchase price and does not control escrow outcomes. In general:

  • if the buyer never funds escrow, no transfer occurs and the reservation is released;
  • if the seller fails to transfer the domain after funding, Escrow.com’s process governs the return of the buyer’s funds;
  • a cancellation or dispute during the transaction follows Escrow.com’s cancellation and dispute procedures; and
  • once a transaction has closed and disbursed, it is final subject to Escrow.com’s and the registrar’s rules.

Webba may reflect the transaction’s status from the provider and may release a reservation for a transaction that is cancelled, failed, or abandoned. ⚖ Legal review recommended: refund/cancellation wording must mirror Escrow.com's actual policy and any consumer-law cancellation rights in your buyers' jurisdictions.

What Webba does not guarantee

Webba does not guarantee that a buyer will pay, that a seller will transfer, that Escrow.com will act within any particular time, or that any transaction will complete. Domains are sold as is; see the disclaimers in the Terms.
